As usual, we woke up and had breakfast. Since our flight
back to Kunming was scheduled to depart at 12:30pm, we had about 3 hours to kill before going to the airport. Everyone lazed
in our hotel rooms and rested. We needed that.
This trip would have cost less if we were to take a bus back to Kunming. Nevertheless, enough
of winding roads. Flying back only took 40 minutes.

Waiting at Lijiang Airport. |
Upon arrival, we headed for lunch. Met up with Xiao
again.
Our destination of the day was Western Hill. Everyone
walked up 400 steps to see the Dragon Gate. There were Chinese characters inscribed on it: "Come to Dragon Gate and your wish
is made." There was a small hole at the top of it and visitors were encouraged to throw coins, for wisdom and prosperity.
Next, we had to walk up another 72 steps. These steps
symbolized the levels of earth before passing through the "entrance of heaven".
There were several temples on that hill. I didn’t
really pay attention while Xiao were briefing us on the history of each gods. We were too busy gazing down the edge, overlooking
the whole of Kunming. We saw the west shore of Lake Dianchi and everything else looked so minute from above. The safety railings
stood only at waist length, a clumsy move would probably cause you to dive down the plunging cliff, zero chance of survival.
